Meet Jane Cox
Level 3 personal trainer since 1995. I still lost five stone in my own perimenopause before I understood what was actually happening to my body.

this is me

the years no one warned me about
Where this began
I had been a personal trainer for over twenty years. I knew bodies. And then my own body changed under me, and nothing I knew worked anymore.
I had the worst perimenopause I can imagine, though for a long time I did not know that is what it was. In the space of two years I lost both my parents, my marriage ended, and I was raising two children through all of it. The anger. The depression. The outbursts that did not feel like mine. The weight that would not move. The sleep that would not come. I put every bit of it down to grief. It was not only grief. No one had ever told me perimenopause existed, let alone that it could land like this, on top of everything else.
Five stone. That is what I gained across those years, while I was still doing everything I had spent two decades telling other people to do, training harder and eating less, and watching my body go the other way. I sat with the thought every woman I now coach has sat with. Is this me now, for the rest of my life? I did not get out of it by doing more. I got out of it by finally understanding why everything I had been doing was making it harder. So I stopped trying to fix everything at once. I changed one thing, in the right order, at a pace a midlife body could actually keep up with. Then the next thing. They compounded. That became The Compound Method™, and the sequence is not incidental, it is the whole point.
The work was never really the body. The body is the response.

What I believe
Permission comes before protein. You cannot strength-train your way out of years of putting yourself last.
The body is the response, not the work. Change what comes first, and the body follows.
One thing at a time. Anything more is cortisol dressed up as ambition.
You cannot fail this. The method is built so showing up is the easiest thing you do all week.
The rulebook changed. The one you were handed in the 1990s was never written for the body you have now.
I don't train women. I inspire them. The teaching only lands once you have been seen.
What I do now
Today I run Body Reclaim, a twelve-week program for women over 40 who have tried everything and are tired of trying harder, built on a method I developed across seven years of one-to-one coaching. Here is what each name means and how it fits together.
The company. Used sparingly, mainly in footers and on official documents.
The twelve-week program. The thing women join.
The methodology. The habit-driven "how" that powers Body Reclaim.
The app and community where Body Reclaim lives, and where most women stay long after their twelve weeks are done.
Four names, one thing: a method they own.
I am in my fifties, I coach women across the UK, and most mornings still start the way mine always have, with a walk before the rest of the day gets loud. It is where I do my thinking. It is also, more or less, where Body Reclaim began.
I've realised that to add years to your life and life to your years is all about the small things. The small daily wins. The small actions that lead to big changes. So if, like me, you have that quiet, determined inner voice that makes big things happen, welcome to the club.

If any of this sounds like the body and the season you are in, the program is called Body Reclaim, and a new group opens the first Monday of every month. When you are ready, you are welcome to join the waitlist. There is no rush. That, really, is the whole idea.
